Two Blowhards (Moran/Murtha) Left Speechless at Virginia Townhall

Congressman Jim Moran sponsored a townhall earlier this week in Virginia and invited Congressman John Murtha to attend. According to the Washington Post, "Many of those at yesterday's forum were Iraq veterans who support Murtha and detailed their frustration with botched missions and shared flak jackets. But one veteran angrily confronted him."

A closer review shows that the "angry veteran" was former Sergeant Mark Seavey, who recently returned from Afghanistan.

Viewing the video of Mark Seavey's statement, courtesy of Michell Malkin, does not lend one to view him as an "angry veteran". The text of his statement also does not appear angry.

Mark Seavey:

"Yes sir my name is Mark Seavey and I just want to thank you for coming up here. Until about a month ago I was Sgt Mark Seavey infantry squad leader, I returned from Afghanistan. My question to you," (applause)

"Like yourself I dropped out of college two years ago to volunteer to go to Afghanistan, and I went and I came back. If I didn't have a herniated disk now I would volunteer to go to Iraq in a second with my troops, three of which have already volunteered to go to Iraq. I keep hearing you say how you talk to the troops and the troops are demoralized, and I really resent that characterization. The morale of the troops that I talk to is phenomenal, which is why my troops are volunteering to go back, despite the hardships they had to endure in Afghanistan."

"And Congressman Moran, 200 of your constituents just returned from Afghanistan. We never got a letter from you; we never got a visit from you. You didn't come to our homecoming. The only thing we got from any of our elected officials was one letter from the governor of this state thanking us for our service in Iraq, when we were in Afghanistan. That's reprehensible. I don't know who you two are talking to but the morale of the troops is very high." (applause)

Congressman Moran: "That wasn't in the form of a question, it was in the form of a statement. But, uhh... let's go over here."

Interestingly enough this, "angry veteran" was applauded two times, both when he stated he returned from Afghanistan and stated the morale of the troops was very high. But I guess for the Washington Post, one is considered an "angry veteran" when one disagrees the "cut and run" stategy of Liberal Democrats.

What is also interesting about the Washington Post's account is that a roomful of people who apparently disagreed with the "angry" Mark Seavey applauded him despite "many" being "Iraq veterans who support Murtha and detailed their frustration with botched missions and shared flak jackets."

Kind of makes one think the Washington Post missed the point of Mark Seavey's statement, the applause he received when he stated, "the morale of the troops is very high," the speechlessness of Congressmen Moran and Murtha, and the immediate redirection to another question without responding to such a damning statement of the truth.

Just another example Liberal Democrats true character. When confronted with truth or adversity, Liberal Democrats choose to "Cut and Run". These two gentlemen are not the type of leaders I want leading me into combat, especially given the Global War of Terror we are now fighting or in charge of the worlds most powerful country. Quite frankly, I am truly not sure these folks should be trusted with the power they currently possess.

Instead of "600 Listen to Critic of Iraq War" being the title the Washington Post chose for the article, it should have been "Two Blowhards (Moran/Murtha) Left Speechless at Virginia Townhall".
