Guantanamo Bay is nothing like the Russian Gulag.

Will the Real Gulag Please Stand Up?
David Limbaugh, Human Events Original Article

While I am sympathetic with the American Left's outrage over Amnesty International's slander of Soviet gulags by likening them to the United States' incomparably evil prison detention center at Guantanamo Bay, I thought I would review Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's description of the Soviet Camps in his classic, Gulag Archipelago.

Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean rage against Republicans. It's not a winning approach.

Seeing Red
Peggy Noonan, WSJ Original Article

I don't know that Democrats understand how Republicans experience the attacks Democratic leaders make on them. I'm not sure they know how they sound to us. In America there is a lot of political integration. Democrats and Republicans are friends. Life forces them to be if they need to be forced, which most don't. They know each other from the office, Little League, school meetings, the neighborhood. My interest was in the philosophy of a free society. Education was the area that I happened to write on early. I then went on to consider other areas as well. The end result was "Capitalism and Freedom," published seven years later with the education article as one chapter.

China has moved from "communism to fascism," using the energy of capitalism to animate the ambitions of a tyranny.

Gathering storm over China
Suzanne Fields, Washington Times Original Article

You don't need a fortune cookie to learn that China isn't playing straight with the rest of the world. The men in Beijing may be taking some of their clues from the most important page of Mao Tse-tung's Little Red Book: "Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.'
